Why do people usually seek counseling?
People seek counseling for a variety of reasons. Some people are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, or stress. Others may be going through a life event such as job or school transition, a loss, or an illness. Others are looking for relationship support whether it is with a spouse, partner, friend, or family member. We often find ourselves saying that we should be able to handle our own life events and emotions. Some feel that it is a failure to reach out and ask questions, which is not true. It is brave and it is beneficial.
Life happens. It happens differently to every person. Each one of us experiences various degrees of difficulty and has their own mechanisms to get through these events. These events can vary as well. Some are tragic. Sometimes we have many little things that add up to too much and we need to work through it with someone.
